Review: His Obsession Next Door

His Obsession Next Door His Obsession Next Door by Cathryn Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A story filled with feelings

I liked this book very much because:
* The storyline was good
* The characters had personal growth throughout the story and the author showed that clearly
* There’s no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Enough dialogues to keep the story interesting at all times
* Love scenes that is hot and still described in a way that makes the scenes tasteful
* Good narrator but I do prefer when there’s two narrators because the male voice is not easy to do well for a women although this narrator almost made it.
* I loved that there were so much feeling in this book that it made me wipe some tears from time to time.

This author is now on my TBR list. I recommend this book to all that like a hero who looks after the heroine even though she is strong and independent.

What were you thinking about just then?” His gaze fell to her mouth. “Never mind. You don’t have to tell me. It’s written all over your face.”
She licked her lips as he stepped closer, as he backed her against the wall and bracketed her in with his hands on either side of her head. He felt bigger in this position, as if his shoulders could block out the very sun. You have to get him to back off. You’re too close. She leaned against the wall, the move arching her back just a little. Beckett’s gaze dropped to where her breasts pressed against her blouse, and he dragged in an unsteady breath. As if he was using every ounce of willpower not to touch her. He dragged his eyes up to meet hers. “You were thinking about that night.”
She could deny it, but it would be pointless. “Yeah.”

Slowly, oh so slowly, he moved one hand to sift his fingers through her hair. When she didn’t immediately answer, he leaned closer yet. “I think about it, too.” He trailed his fingers through her hair until he reached her shoulder and his thumb dipped beneath the fabric of her shirt. “All the fucking time.” He dropped his hand farther, the tips of his fingers tracing over her breast in a touch so light she was half sure she imagined it.
Might have convinced herself she imagined it if her entire body wasn’t tuned to his in that moment.
Touch me.

As if reading her thoughts, he shifted closer, his leg sliding between hers. The move forced her skirt up as she spread her legs to accommodate his thigh. Higher and higher until he was firmly pressed against her clit. It throbbed in time with her heartbeat, and it was everything she could do not to rub on his thigh like a mindless version of herself.
She felt mindless. Samara gave up her determination not to touch him. She couldn’t wrap her legs around his waist because of her damn skirt, but she ran her hands up his chest. “We can’t.”
“I know.” But he didn’t stop. He slid his hands down to her ass, urging her to grind against his thigh. Slowly, so incredibly slowly, as if he had all the time in the world. He dragged his mouth over her collarbone, the faint rasp of whiskers drawing a whimper from her lips.

Samara dug her fingers into his hair, and he went still. Waiting. She pulled him up and took his mouth the way she’d wanted to since she’d snuck out of that hotel room six months before. She flicked his tongue with hers, teasing him even as he resumed the delicious movement between them again. Yes, yes, do that, don’t stop.

Beckett let her have control for all of two seconds, and then he deepened the kiss, pressing her more firmly against the wall. He took with his mouth even as he gave with his body, hitching her higher until her toes barely touched the floor and she was completely at his mercy. Pleasure sparked through her, and she kissed him harder. It wasn’t enough, might never be enough, but she couldn’t stop.
Not when she knew that, as good as this was, what came next was even better.

Excerpt:
Well…” I stop to clear the rasp from my voice. “If there’s no picture of us together, we should take one.”

“Good idea.” He crooks his finger at me, unwittingly sealing his fate. “Come here.”

I put my jacket on downstairs when I thought we were leaving, but I take it off now, simply letting it fall. “I want you in the mayor’s chair.”

His eyes stray to my pooled jacket, then tick to mine. “You what?”

“In the picture. I want you sitting in the chair.”

“Oh. Right.” He slides out the brown leather, high-back executive chair and drops into it. “What about you?”

My bravery slips. Whose wouldn’t? This powerful, gorgeous man sits before me, outlined by the city he’s been elected to run. His thighs are thicker than my waist, his sleeves caught up around his elbows. A strong man. A man of conviction who will not be seduced unless he really wants to be.

Or is driven out of his mind and can’t resist.

Before I can second-guess myself, I move between his outstretched thighs and ease myself onto his lap. “Addison.”

I send him an innocent look over my shoulder. “Yes, Captain?”

His chest rises and falls. Once. Twice. “Take the picture.”

The fact that I’m playing with fire stops psyching me out…and begins to excite me. Maybe it’s the gravel in his tone…or the big fists that come to rest on the desk. No…it’s definitely the way he presses his nose to my hair and inhales. As if I’m not going to notice. But I do. I do and it makes me braver. Makes me throb between my legs.

“The picture, Addison.”

“Sorry.” I lean across the desk where I set my purse, taking my time digging through to find my cell before pulling it out, searching for the camera app. All the while, his muscles bunch beneath me,
harder and harder…and that’s when I feel it. His erection lifts under my backside, so thick and glorious, I bite my lip to stop from crying out. I want to, though. I want to sob at the proof that he’s physically attracted to me and at least I have that much.

My hands are shaking as I lift the camera, my instincts screaming at me to grind down. Elijah’s breath is pelting the back of my neck. Other than that he’s completely still, though. But when I flip the camera around to selfie mode and get my first look at his face, there isn’t a jury on the planet that would rule him unaffected. His eyes are closed, nostrils flared, mouth open against my hair. “You’ve got five seconds,” he says. “Take it, or—”
“Or what?” Elijah stands up and takes me with him, my ass pressed to his lap, feet dangling off the ground. As if I weigh nothing more than a child. It only lasts for a couple mind-blowing seconds, though, before he settles me on the ground behind his desk. His heat begins to leave me and I sense my chance slipping away, so I twist around to face him. Still mere inches away from me, he pauses with his head tipped forward, hands flexing at his sides. “We could be more than friends.” After easing myself backwards onto the desk, I snag his necktie and tug him closer, guiding his hips between my open thighs. “Just for tonight.”

His laugh is more like a rough expulsion of air, the scent of bourbon hitting me. “That’s not how things work,” he says, his palms scraping up my thighs, twisting in the hem of my dress. “Goddammit, Addison. You’re not supposed to tempt me like this.”

Tempted. He’s tempted. My blood cells crash together. “I don’t always do what I’m supposed to,” I murmur, leaning up to bring our mouths close, a breath separating them. “If I wasn’t your friend, would you kiss me right now?”

His eyes fasten on my mouth, seeming darker than usual. Predatory. “You felt what you did to my cock, sugar. You know the answer to that.”

AUTHOR BIO

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the

same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of ten years and six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

Getaway Girl Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*I was gifted this ARC and freely give my review of it*

Wow, I absolutely love the bubble butt hero and dirty talking heroine, Addison and Elijah is hot, fun and different from the usual couples in romance books.

What I liked:
* The chemistry between Addison and Elijah is coming through in the story from the beginning.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Fun and entertaining dialogues and just the right amount of dialogues
* The love scenes is spectacular and surprising and the intensity is making me blush.
* I liked that both characters reflected over their actions and still couldn’t keep away from each other.
* Master bedroom and and axe scene....oooh I love that.....on so many levels, the intensity and it’s proof that Elijah understands the significance of something for Addison that men normally don’t get. Admit it people, men and women don’t think alike in some situations.
* So many feelings, and for me to not spoil this book for anyone I have to shut up now.

One more thing; even though I received an ARC of this book I bought it too because this author will have my support so she can keep writing her enjoyable stories.

Review: The Choice

The Choice The Choice by Shayla Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*I was gifted this ARC from the author and freely give my review*

This series is one of the ones I just have to read. The first four books in this series was about Raine and her journey and there we first met Heavenly, finally we get Heavenly’s story.
This is ménage and these authors sure knows how to write it. I love it and this is why:

* Good storyline
* Great characters descriptions that makes them come alive and I feel that I get know them very well. Secondary characters that I know from the previous books is also in this book and it’s a joy to “see” them again.
* Revealing bits of the characters past and present secrets little by little is what makes this story intriguing and holds my interest
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Lots of dialogues
* The love scenes is intense and the connection between the characters is described in an intense and emotional way
* Heavenly’s journey from innocence to knowing what love and passion is about is beautifully described and happens gradually.
* I particularly loved the art show.......

It’s a cliffhanger but I still feel a little satisfied with how it went, now I just have to wait for the next book.
I recommend you read Raine’s story first but it’s not absolutely necessary.

5 stars 🌟

Highlights and Quotes:

“All perfectly logical reasons to back off. But his dick was vetoing his brain.“

“Sex is no different than any other primal need. Everyone has varying taste.“

“...art challenges us to consider, maybe even tackle our preconceived notions. Sometimes, it disarms us with unexpected reactions.”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley and I'm freely giving my honest review.*

One third in to the book I almost cried because how can this author let this wonderful father lose his son??????

Emotional and sweet romance about a fathers journey back to life after loosing his son. With the help off his sons friend he goes through the process of grieving, healing and accepting the situation.

* Wonderful storyline
* Realistically described characters I think we all can relate to.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Lots of dialogues
* The love scenes where tastefully described without being tacky and they were very sweet
* The build up towards a romantic relationship between Taylor and Jesse is described in a way that was vulnerable and raw and made me cry so many times.

If you crave a emotional story that has your nerves pinging and feelings thundering this story will leave you wanting to read more from this author.
Excellent 5 stars 🌟

Quotes and Highlights:

“But I’d do it all again, Larissa. In a heartbeat. I got to have him for twenty years and don’t regret one single minute of it.“

“It was amazing how one man’s life—and death—had changed the course of so many others’, leaving people as adrift as pieces of flotsam on an angry sea. So much loss, so much pain, all because a bullet had missed one target and found its mark on another...“

“So maybe our relationship isn’t black and white, Jess. Maybe others won’t understand it, and they’ll try to judge us. Let ’em. They don’t know us.”

“Oh, Riley, I love them both so much.” He laid his palm flat over Riley’s name with a wistful smile. “I’m just glad I got to love you first.”

Eight months ago Jude Lucen fled his partner, his career, and a hospital in Boston after a suicide attempt. Now back in Philadelphia, he feels like a complete failure. Piano has always been his passion and his only escape. Without it, he has nothing. Well, nothing except a pathetic crush on the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen.

He’s only met Jude a few times, but something about the red-haired man with the haunted eyes calls to him. Faron is blown away by Jude’s talent. Excerpt:

My problem with Faron was that he was stunning.

He was tall and taut, with broad shoulders and an elegant neck. His tawny brown skin was flawless and he had dreamy, gray-brown eyes that always seemed to focus on something in a plane beyond this one. His riot of corkscrew curls was sometimes loose, but today was caught up in a topknot. It had been bleached nearly white when I first met him and was now growing out. His cheekbones were high and broad, casting shadows that made him look like he was candlelit from every angle. His mouth was lush and full, and his rare smiles turned his chiseled beauty to a warmth so engaging that you didn’t ever want him to look away from you.

His beauty was a problem because it made me want him and I hated wanting anything. Desire was the beginning of disappointment.

It wasn’t just his looks, though. I could’ve handled that. I’d known a lot of beautiful people.

No, it was everything.

He was graceful and forceful at the same time. His focus was intense, whether it was on the things that only he saw or on whoever he was listening to. And he made me feel calm—as if he held the whole world in his hands and slowed it down or sped it up to whatever speed I was going.

It was intoxicating: a promise of peace as long as I was in his presence.

A hope.

And hope was even worse than desire.

Invitation to the Blues Invitation to the Blues by Roan Parrish
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

************💙❤️***********
This book truly ripped me open and a lot of the reason is that I can relate to Jude’s challenges with anxiety. I cried and read, cried a little more, read again and cried and so on.......
I loved it❣️

This is some of the reasons why (I can’t say all I want because of spoilers):

* Excellent storyline
* Characters that came alive and emotionally wrecked me, most of all because I can relate to Jude and his challenges and I have highlighted the hell out of this book.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Enough dialogues to keep my interest and keeping the story going forward whiteout loosing momentum.
* Some of the most tender and sweet love scenes I’ve read to this day.
* I love Faron and his calm personality, he reminds me of a person presence in my own life in some ways. Jude deserves a person like that in his life.

When I sit here writing my review, I feel an urge to discuss this book and I’m afraid I will end up with spoilers if I write more so I settle with this:

I recommend this book and I actually declare it the best MM romance I’ve read so far this year.
5 stars 🌟

Quotes and Highlights:

“My desperation to be better, to be fixed, to be transformed was deeper and burned brighter than any acceptance I’d gained or kindness I had found for myself.“

“It was so easy to forget that even though I was always being forced to think about myself, not everyone else did.“

“Sometimes my battery lasted all day, sometimes only an hour, but it always happened this way: I was there until I wasn’t, with no warning in between.“

“Don’t be sorry,” he said. “Don’t ever be sorry for who you are.”

“You are how you are,” she said, eyes intent. “You’re not the problem. You’re the whole thing. The good and the bad. You’re not one element of your own life. You’re all of it.”

“But you focus only on the ways you’ve failed to have relationships on other people’s terms. By rules you didn’t make. And if you do that? If you only judge yourself by whether you’ve mastered someone else’s game? You’ll fail every time.”

“Being able to see things from someone else’s perspective is never a weakness.”

“I cried because I finally knew what it felt like to love someone more than I hated myself.“

EXCERPT

Max’s hands slid down to cup his girlfriend’s perfect cheeks. He pulled her close and didn’t try to disguise the erection he was sporting. It had been days since he’d gotten inside her. It was starting to make him crazy.
“Hello, gorgeous,” he breathed as he leaned down to slant his mouth across hers.
Rachel softened against him and wrapped her arms around his neck. She didn’t protest as his tongue swept in to play with hers. He hauled her up so her feet were dangling. It was the only way to get her pussy where he wanted it. He rubbed himself against her. He knew it made him a caveman, but he wanted to mark her as his. He wanted her to get a tattoo on that perfect ass of hers that read Property of the Harper Brothers.
Max set her down. His brain went there all the time now. He couldn’t stop thinking about Rachel between him and Rye. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Pancakes and sausage,” she replied with a suspicious gleam in her eyes.
He kissed her forehead gently and went to sit down at the kitchen table. He was very careful since she was studying him like she was trying to guess what he would do next. He didn’t want her to figure out what he was thinking. He had more than one thing he needed to hide from her today. He schooled his features to express nothing but innocence.
“Oh, God, what are you thinking?” Rachel looked utterly horrified. “Who are you going to kill?”
“What?” Max asked, holding his hands up in confusion.
She rounded the table and leaned over. He couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing a bra. If he leaned in a bit, he could see the curve of her breasts and the faintest hint of nipple.
“Eyes up, mister,” she ordered in what he’d come to think of as her “drill sergeant” voice. His eyes obediently came up. He’d learned when it was in his best interests to obey her immediately. His baby was one tough cookie, and he was man enough to admit he needed her to be that way. He would walk all over her otherwise. That would make for one boring relationship. Rachel kept him on his toes.
“Sorry, baby.” He would try to distract her with charm. He had some of that. He smiled and pulled her hand into his. He tugged her down onto his lap. “I can’t help it. I get distracted by your breasts. They’re pretty. And I’m really, really horny. We haven’t had sex in days. It’s killing me.”
She rolled her eyes and sighed. Her arms went around his neck. “You just had surgery. You haven’t even had the stitches out yet. The doctor said we should wait a few days.”
“It’s been almost a week.” He put a little whine in his voice. Maybe if she thought he was simply horny, she would forget her suspicions. It was imperative that she not figure out what he had done after she’d gone to sleep. “I promise I could be super still. I would lie perfectly still, and you could do all the work.”
She grinned. It did strange things to his heart. “That sounds tempting. I’ll call the doctor today, and I’ll see if we can get him to let you off the leash.”
She kissed his cheek. She got up and went to the stove, where she poured out pancake batter. Max relaxed.
She rounded on him suddenly. “You’re sure you’re not planning something terrible?”
She knew him far too well. He grimaced inwardly. This was where Rye would come in handy. Rye could distract her. Rachel was far too much woman for one man. He needed his brother because Max had figured out that a tag team approach was required when Rachel got saucy. But he was all on his own now. He didn’t like the feeling.
“Baby, I’m planning on doing some light work around the barn. I’m going to spend some time with Sunflower, and then I’ll have Rye drive me into Del Norte for my checkup. That’s my plan.” It was true. It was part of his plan. He didn’t mention the stop he intended to make.
Her eyes narrowed, and he wondered briefly if she could make that spatula into a weapon. He thought she probably could. Max sighed. He could make it into one, too. He could pull her over his lap and shove those boxers off her hips, then spank that pert rear. He wouldn’t hurt her. He’d simply get her bottom all pink and pretty. He’d rather use his hand, though.
“You have crazy eyes today, Max. What did you just think?” she asked breathlessly.
Rye stood in the doorway. He had on jeans and a T-shirt. His hair was still wet from his shower. “He was wondering how you would handle it if he pulled you across his lap and spanked you with your spatula. You should use your hand, Max. It would be better.”
Rachel’s mouth fell open. She looked between the two of them like she was trying to figure out what to say.
Max pointed at Rye. “He said it.”
Rye shrugged. “He was thinking it.”
“So were you.”
Rye’s face fell. Max saw him look down at the crotch of his jeans. “Damn it.”
Rye turned and walked back down the hall. Max knew exactly where he was going.
“What’s wrong with him?” She looked concerned as his brother marched off.
Max smiled broadly. Rye had done his job. She wasn’t thinking about his potential plans anymore. She set a plate in front of him.
“I guess he’s not hungry,” Max lied.
His brother was hungry, all right. He’d been hungry since the minute he laid eyes on Rachel.

My Review:

Three to Ride Three to Ride by Sophie Oak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

* I was gifted this book and freely give my review*

Elisabeth is running from a stalker and ends up in Bliss, a weird little place where people are welcoming and helpful. But the stalker is not giving up.....

This is what I liked about this book:
* Good storyline
* Great characters descriptions that makes me feel I know them, in addition the secondary characters are making me curious about their stories.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* Lots of dialogues
* Love scenes that will make you blush
* Max and Rye is alpha males but Elisabeth/Rachel is not a weak woman that lets her men walk all over her. The author is able to balance her strength and her ability to lean on her men in a way that makes her a strong women with the capability to receive help when she need it.

This is a erotic story but with enough happening so it don’t seem shallow.
This is the first book in a series but can be read as a standalone.
