Review: Eight Seconds

Eight Seconds Eight Seconds by William Davrick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Publishing date August 31th

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*
Dustin is a bull rider whom can't stay on the bull over his eighth seconds. After nearly killing a man he's forced to see a health counsellor. She seeks help from a colleague when she discovers she's a trigger for Dustin. The colleague unexpectedly is a man who's had a crush on Dustin many years ago.

The story is heartbreaking, sweet, exiting and has a hold on me all the way. It has many turns and surprises through out the book.

It's also giving a look at ethics in working with mental health issues; should one only see things in black and white upon working with people and emotions when ethics concerns. The actions the two colleagues is taking to help Dustin is questionable sometimes. But my feeling is that they do what they do to help even if it's not ethical right all the time.

This book for me was very rooted in reality in so many ways but still has a little fairytale story. It gave me a surprise moment when I discovered the link to the title of the book reading Dustin's story and it made so much sense.

The story is also about abuse and how people react and survives depending on what kind of support they have at the time.
I found the story interesting to read and I would definitely read another book from this author. The writing style is easy to read despite the heavy topic of this book. I disappear in this book so it's well worth 5 stars.
The book describes abuse so if you can't stomach reading about it you shouldn't read this book, but for me it's a reminder of that the world is so much more than my little safe place. We could all need a reminder now and then.

Review: The Secret Art of Forgiveness

The Secret Art of Forgiveness The Secret Art of Forgiveness by Louisa George
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*

Emily is going home to England to look after her stepfather that is demented while her stepsisters are visiting their mother. It's a weird homecoming after she run away so many years ago when so much happened.

This is a story about how things are not always what they look like and you always have to be true to yourself to have a healthy relationship with others.

I liked this book very much, it was a refreshing story written in a way that made it easy to read but still got the more serious topic of the book out in the open.

The way Emily is described I feel her desperation and anxiety to go back to where she was a failure and left out of the family. The other characters are also described in a way that makes you feel their struggles. I didn't however get the feeling of "living in the book" with them.

Still I didn't finish the book with a feeling of "wow, what a great book" rather then a feeling of "okay, I finished"

Good book and I recommend it if you like light romance with a bit of seriousness to it.

Review: Wicked Play

Wicked Play Wicked Play by Lynda Aicher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lynda Aicher land

Ohlalala I'm in a Lynda Aicher land, she has me captivated and craving her books, as soon as I finished one I want the next.......and I don't let anything get in my way.

This is a story about Cali who's newly divorced from a man that didn't want sex and now she seeking what she missed in her marriage at a BDMS club and there she meets Jake, a Dom not interested in connecting with any woman.

You all know how it goes if you're a reader of romance. This could have been a cliché story but Aicher has a way of bringing that extra feeling in to the books that get you captivated from the beginning. The insecurity in Cali and the attraction Jake feels towards her is coming trough so honest and raw.
There is no unnecessary description of surroundings, just a plain and simple story told in an excellent way.

This story got me to forget about everything other than to read and I'm definitely going to read the rest of these wicked books.

Review: Out of the Blues

Out of the Blues Out of the Blues by Mercy Celeste
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG

I've read this book before but I still can't put it away.
Mason are going back home for his sister Harper's wedding. He has to shear a room with the grooms brother Kilby. And the attraction is sizzling from first meeting.
This book.... I can't even describe how it made me feel but I'm going to try; first of all I felt overwhelmed because there's so much feelings in this book.

I cried for Harper and Mason's messed up childhood.
I laughed at the banters between the characters.
I was feeling the love between Mason and Kilby.

The book also gave a surprise in the end that I didn't expect, but it was a nice surprise don't worry.

I loved the writing style and my copy is packed with notes. It's genius writing that's easy to read and addictive.

This is one of my re-read books now, even if I've read it twice, in a couple of years I'll come back to it.

Now looking for more books from this author.

Review: The Heart of Falcon Ridge

The Heart of Falcon Ridge The Heart of Falcon Ridge by D.L. Roan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lovely ménage

Claira (whose real name is Gabriella) is running from a man determine to get his hands on her and from a fathers crazy deals. She starts a substitute teachers job and meet the three fathers of twin boys in her class, Grey, Matt and Mason.

The story is great, but then I love a good ménage story. I adore the protective, loving, commanding, tender way the men are towards Claira.

The author writes in a fun and light way with a lot of feelings. The friendly banter between the characters is great even if it's a somewhat serious book too.

I've never read anything from this author before but I'm definitely going to read more of her books.

Review: The Fight

The Fight The Fight by Ashley John
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wonderful

The last book about George and Harvey was as good as it could be. Harvey comes back after 5 months on the road.
The things he has gone through makes him realise that he left a good man.
Even though I felt like George was letting Harvey down in the second book I was hoping they end up together. The description of their love is so well written I can almost feel it.
This last book is filled with emotions; grieve, happiness, love, sadness, fear......all the spectre of emotions. What I liked best about all of the books is that it's a story that could have been real.
As I said before the writing style is great and that makes it a joy to read.
Thanks so much to the author for writing about these two guys who is very much rooted in the real world.

Review: The Truth

The Truth The Truth by Ashley John
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So much feelings

George can't seem to leave his wife for Harvey, and that makes the relationship difficult.
I resented George for not have the courage to tell his wife about Harvey, it seems like he wants to have it all.
I thought this book was even better then the first, it was so full of feelings and the characters came more alive for me.
I love the writing style, it's easy and to the point, not full of descriptions of the surroundings which I find not necessary to know all the time. Only if it's essential to the story.
I just have to read the last book.

Review: The Secret

The Secret The Secret by Ashley John
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Emotional and exiting cliffhanger

I liked the writing style and the characters are well written. It's full of emotions. Harvey is much younger then George and his older lover is also married, but the still can't resist each other.
Harvey's brother Leo are making trouble and the cliffhanger is crucial for the story so now I go onto the next book. How can I not?

Review: Nailed

Nailed Nailed by Opal Carew
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*

River is trying to start her own business selling nail polish but she need money. She starts a campaign on a Kickstarter paige. Someone pays a lot of money to have dinner with her but it's the last person she wants to see, Kane Winters.

The story's beginning makes me wonder what Kane did that was so horrible she can't forgive him. And it was horrible!!!!! But I don't want to leave a spoiler so....

River is used to take care of her self after growing up with a emotional distanced mother and a father spending time in jail. But when Kane shower her with attention she sucks it up like a sponge.

This is a story about how young people can let others judgment can colour our views of other people and do stupid things. And some still let people's opinion count more then it should in adult life, I didn't like that River changed to make Kane satisfied. And I resented Kane for making her feel like she had to change. But people do and say thing that can be taken the wrong way.

The story is great, I liked the switch between the past and present it made the story flow very well. The characters are described in a great way so I got the feeling of really getting to know them. However the story takes a surprise turn and I felt the ending was a little abrupt. But I loved this book and all the hot scenes....wow!!!

Review: Erased

Erased Erased by J.L. Redington
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Exiting and good

Neo is having problems with his memory, and he's having flashbacks after a accident that erased his long term memory.
This was a interesting book with a abrupt stop in the story at the end.
The book was easy to read and the characters was described in a good way but there were still some feelings missing for me. I really don't know if I'm going to read the rest of this series.
I don't know what it was about this book that didn't resonate with me but I'm going with my guts and say that it just didn't do it for me.

Review: American Bad Boy: A Military Romance

American Bad Boy: A Military Romance American Bad Boy: A Military Romance by Eddie Cleveland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Honest and hot

Mack is returning to his hometown a injured hero and his old girlfriend Lauren is the nurse taking care of him.
I liked that there wasn't many hidden secrets between the main characters. It was mostly straight forward and the story felt real and had a lot of meaning.
The struggles Mack goes trough after being in war zone was described in a very good way, specially for those of us readers who have no possibility to understand what his going trough. I felt it gave me a little more understanding of his struggles.
I liked the writing style of this author and the hot scenes was good, not the best I've read but enough for me to give this story 5 stars.
I'm definitely going to read the next book from this author. Thank you Eddie Cleveland

Review: Harris

Harris Harris by Jasinda Wilder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's hot and heavy

I've been waiting for Harris and Leila story since I started reading Omega.
I love reading Jasinda Wilder's books. They're easy to read and captures you from the first chapter. This book was no exception but it was to many erotic scenes in this book for my taste. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this is one of her books with most erotic scenes. Then again I could be wrong.
Anyway, Leila is a person who's very open when it comes to sexuality so the story wouldn't be right without all the sex.
I think the author still managed to give a good picture of the kind of relationship Harris and Leila has formed and bring some of the challenges out in to the light.
I love that it's written from both characters views.
It's a very solid 4 stars, almost up to 5.

Review: Breaking Him

Breaking Him Breaking Him by Sherilee Gray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*

Abigail is running her ranch after her fathers dead with the help of Elijah who's a big quiet guy with a ugly childhood.

This story was deliciously sweet and dirty, why.....oh why haven't I read some of her books before.

The story has a deeper meaning; a boy going through hell and growing up to be a big man who everyone fears, and no one knows that the little afraid boy is still in there. The past still tormenting him every day. Even though the book is full of erotic scenes the author has in some way managed to make every scene mean something more than just sex.

He is a wizard with wild horses and breaking them in is he's speciality. I was seeing the subject of breaking in wild horses synonymous with how Abigail was in a way breaking him in because he's like a wild horse. I loved the mix of vulnerability and Alfa male in this man. Abigail have to break him to get him to open up to her about he's past and all the feelings built up inside him.

The only thing missing was to be in Elijah's thoughts too, but the author has a magic way of writing so you feel like you can know what's going on in his mind too. My personal preferences is to read a story written from both main characters views but I still loved this book so it a solid 5 hot and sweet stars from me.

Review: Wind River Wrangler

Wind River Wrangler Wind River Wrangler by Lindsay McKenna
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*
Shiloh is a romance author living in New York, but now she has a stalker so she goes to visit her mothers friend on her ranch. Here she has to share a house with Ronan a former army employee now a cowboy.
She feels attracted to him from the first meeting and he feels this attraction after seeing her picture.
The story goes on to much in the minds of the characters and it's a bit frustrating but suddenly at 35 % of the book I feel there is a deeper meaning in this story and I get the purpose of all the "mind reading".
There are so many feelings in this book and it got to me. The authors way of describing the characters feelings towards one another is superb, you can actually feel the tenderness, insecurity, longing, sadness and most of all the love.
Ronan is the first to recognise his feelings of love for Shiloh but it's subtly described in the story.
After seeing her own mother dealing with the loss of Shiloh's father and then she lost her mother too, Shiloh are having trouble trusting her feelings and is afraid of losing the person she eventually should fall in love with.
I like the way the author lets Shiloh gradually build her strength and confidence as the weeks go by and she takes part in some of the work at the farm. Working on Ronan's house has a certain symbolic meaning for me because it's indicating that she's going to be part of his house some time in the future.
Most of the books I'm reading has a more abrupt start to the romance but this book builds it up very slowly, and at first it was annoying but I started to enjoy it the more I read.
But the disappointment came in the love scene, I don't think after all that building up it was sufficiently described. Don't misunderstand; it's a good love scene but I expected more passion and......just more...... Maybe it was the lack of communication during the scene.....I don't know. Still it was a very tender love scene.
What I really liked about this book was that you got both main characters story told and I prefer that in a book.
I think much of the reason I felt it was some disappointments was old habits of reading books that has a faster evolvement. Despite some disappointments, this book was good and it had a lot of meaning to me.

Review: Puppy Love

Puppy Love Puppy Love by Hayden Hunt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Good

Noah is a police officer that's being called to a break in but in the house is a old man that can't seem to take care of himself. He contacts his son Charlie and there is a connection between them.
The story is good and the characters are described okay.
What didn't make a excellent book for me was that the writing style was jumping a little.
The feeling of getting in to the book was lacking and that makes this a 4 star.

*I was gifted this book in exchange for my opinion*
Ellie returns to her hometown as a newly educated doctor to take care of her father and discover her old crush Roger is single and in search of a wild women in bed. She makes a deal with towns wild forever bachelor Tyler, he teaches her the ways of sex and she won't call in a shooting wound of his.
As you all know that ends of with something else and Ellie don't know a secret about Roger that could have saved her the effort.

This book was so hot and the connection between Ellie and Tyler was described with a lot of passion and love. I loved the erotic scenes and specially the one outside in the rain.
The characters came alive for me, but at the same time I couldn't see them in my mind so it was the one thing that dragged this book down to 4 stars for me. This is just my personal preferences.
I like the writing style because it's no extremely long and unnecessary description of characters or surroundings so it's easy to read and had much feelings without being to much.
I liked the book and I intend to read the rest of the books in this series. This is just the first.

Review: Indecent Encounter: The Silverhaus Affair

Indecent Encounter: The Silverhaus Affair Indecent Encounter: The Silverhaus Affair by M.S. Parker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Good but annoying

Chelsea goes to Holland for a summer job she very much need to make money so she can pay for her autistic brothers to stay in a good facility. What she don't know is that Alex who hired her did it as a prank on his father. But the chemistry between Chelsea and Alex is unmistakable and things happen.........
I liked this story, it was sweet, erotic, fun, exiting and had some irritating characters.
But what I didn't like was that Chelsea seem too naïve sometimes even stupid. Especially when it came to the outfits she had to wear working as a maid, who in the world wouldn't react to that.......??????
I think both Alex and Chelsea was a bit too confused and I don't know if it was for the purpose of making the story draw out our if it's just the way the author wanted to portrait them. But that was irritating for me as a reader.
And now that I'm reading what I've written in the review I seem to hate the book but I don't; I just don't love it as much as I could have.
It's still a 4 star read so I do recommend it, and I'm going to read the AFTER...book.

Frances is homeless and selling his body to survive and Randy is the son of a pastor. When Francis is visiting the congregation for the purpose of getting som food in his belly the two boys connect.

This is a sweet, heartwarming story about a boy (Francis)growing up believing he is worth nothing, and he's way towards a life where he can think of himself as worthy of the love and care of other people.
The story is good and Randy's struggling with sexual orientation versus Cristian values is interesting since he's parents has taught him to have a open mind but are struggling themselves when it comes to their own son.
The writing style is excellent, I like books that are easy to read and there are no intricate descriptions that makes me loose focus on the message of the story.
If you are looking for a book that's easy to read but also have a deeper message this is a perfect book.

I couldn't put this book down, it was a joy read.
Zack was hilarious and sad and I loved him. He is settled in his job as a telephone sex worker but from what I can read it seems he has potential for more but I don't think he has found he's calling.

When he meets John on the line he is attracted to his voice and they meet and starts a relationship. But Zack's feeling of not being good enough makes him only partly involved in the relationship. I think much of his insecurities comes from that he hasn't found his place in the career world.

John, I think was a little distant for me, maybe because the author wrote the book from Zack's side and I didn't have access to John's thoughts. But what I can read out of the book is that he's a little embarrassed about his wealth and I think he had a lonely childhood.

The author is doing a excellent job in describing the phone sex scenes. It feels like I'm reading a real scene. And the real scenes doesn't disappoint in any way.

I think this is the most erotic m/m romance I've ever read, and the writing style is light and fun so it's nice and easy to read.

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review.*
Danielle and Jack is back and he is continuing he's lessons, and I'm curious if it will be "body contact". Well you have to read to see.
The slow introduction of sex Jack is doing to Danielle is hotter then hottest, and the way the author describes it is so colourful I feel like I'm present in the moment. A little blushing and bright eyed I read on with delight.
Danielle is slowly making her way in to Jack's head in a attempt to help him with he's challenges in the future.
The way the author writes is so great and it's so joyful to read this books that I can't stop reading. I said in my review of the first book that it wasn't easy to write a review because it was so short, but now I've gotten to know the characters more and I'm in love with this two wonderful characters. They move me in so many ways.
This series is so good and I can't wait for the third book that's concluding the series.

Disappointed

HIS FOREVER by Lena Bourne
The story starts abruptly with Nicole meeting Mark again after a summer fling (don't know if I can call it that because it's not described good)
I wonder if the author left some of the books in her mind because it feels like some pieces are missing to make the books complete. I just thought it was sad and confusing to read this book.
I didn't like the description of the characters because I think it wasn't fulfilling enough for me to get a picture in my mind of the human beings.
And the BDMS scenes was a disappointment, to roughly described and to short.
The description of this box set says it's supposed to have book1-5 in this series but there are only 4 books.
It doesn't matter anyway because after book 3 I gave up.
I don't even want to try read the rest.
Sorry!

Recipe for a good book

- 1 great author
- A spoon full of hot scenes
- Some action and violence
- and a little good fillings
And voila; you have a good book.
Kyrie and Valentine is back in this book 2 and their challenges is greater then ever when Valentine's crazy ex shows up and kidnaps him.
This book is even better then the first and Jasinda writes with lots of feelings and with a style that's so easy to read.
The characters are coming alive and I feel like I'm in the book.
I look forward to the last one and Harris book, I hope they live up to my expectations.
This is a series so I recommend you read the first one before this to get to know the characters.
